XL Freeze Dryer
Introducing the Blue Alpine XL Freeze Dryer
FAQ
Capacity & Size
-
How much larger is the XL compared to large models? It is more than twice the size of our large freeze dryers, with better Cooling to heating ratios than other ones on the market.
-
How many trays does it hold? It holds 10 standard half-trays, measuring 13x18 inches each.
-
What is the maximum weight per batch? It handles roughly 40 pounds of fresh food (or 5 gallons of liquid extraction) per 24-hour cycle.
-
What are the physical dimensions? The footprint is 32" L x 32" W x 44" H and 300LBS
Power, Specs & Installation
-
What are the power requirements? The XL requires a 220V, 30-amp receptacle. Commercial freeze drying requires a specific number of watts per pound, and the energy draw reflects the massive processing power of this unit. Other Xl units on the market draw only half the power and are therefore twice as slow compared to our machine.
-
What type of vacuum pump is included? It comes standard with a commercial oil pump. A dry screw vacuum pump is available upon request as an upgrade (starting at an additional $8,000).
-
How much does the unit weigh? The machine weighs approximately 300 pounds (without the pump).
-
How loud is the machine? It operates at around 70 to 75 decibels.
Performance & Operation
-
Does the larger capacity mean longer batch times? No, it is engineered for 24-hour dry times. We recommend pre-freezing your food to keep cycle times as short as possible. We also give you total control over the cycle (such as adjusting pressure) to optimize production for short cycle times.
-
Can I run a partial batch? Absolutely. All 10 trays have independent thermal sensors. This allows you to run partial loads without issue and provides incredibly tight, precise temperature control across the entire chamber.
-
Are there any new software upgrades? We are currently developing Wi-Fi integration. Eventually, you will be able to monitor and control the machine directly from your phone.
-
How easy is it to clean and safely process food? The machine features a fresh air valve for a sterile air inlet. It is also equipped with a nitrogen gas inlet to flush the chamber and help preserve your food even longer.
Commercial Application & ROI
-
What kind of production volume can a business expect? Running consistently, this machine is capable of producing up to 8,000 pounds of freeze-dried food per year.
-
How much energy does the XL consume per batch? It consumes roughly 72 Kilowatts per full load.
-
Is this machine rated for commercial use? Yes, this is a true, heavy-duty commercial machine.
Beta Pricing & Ordering
-
What is the price? The first limited stock of Beta machines are $11,500. After these sell out, the standard production price will be $13,995.
-
When will the machines ship? Right now. They are crated and ready to ship immediately.
